Does Target hate Gays? Lady Gaga fires Target for being Anti Gay!

Lady Gaga ends her exclusive partnership with Target Stores, over the company's anti-gay political spending.

It seems that the reality of selling an album whose title track is a gay empowerment anthem at a store whose Political Action Committee contributed three quarters of its 2010 spending to anti-gay rights politicians became too contentious for Gaga and Target.

Even though Target’s CEO Greg steinhafel, apologized to outraged employees in an internal memo*, the corporation’s donations to anti-gay rights candidates never stopped, as the Awl comprehensively detailed.

* "While I firmly believe that a business climate conducive to growth is critical to our future, I realize our decision affected many of you in a way I did not anticipate, and for that I am genuinely sorry," Steinhafel said.

Gaga Ends Deal With Target Over Its Support of Anti-Gay Groups Singer's agreement with the retail chain insisted that they support LGBT charities

Lady Gaga has reportedly dissolved a deal with Target over the retail chain's political donations to MN Forward, a political action group that supported the anti-gay candidate Tom Emmer in a failed run for governor in Minnesota last year. Emmer had supported a Christian rock organization that advocated violence against gays and supported a proposed state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.

Bad Publicity
Does Target Have an Anti-Gay Agenda, or Are They Just Stupid?

"GLBT groups were pissed off when they learned that Target Corp., which they thought of as gay-friendly, was backing anti-gay marriage Republican candidate for governor Tom Emmer through $150,000 in seed money to MN Forward."

Not only that. Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel and his wife have also "personally donated tens of thousands of dollars over the years to the Republican Party of Minnesota," as well as to Michelle Bachmann, Erik Paulsen, John Kline, Norm Coleman, and George W. Bush.
